El Destino Wines is a reflection of journey, heritage, and purpose.
Founded by a Uruguayan Winemaker, Ulises Bentancor, now crafting wines in California, El Destino was born from the belief that wine should tell a story of place, of culture, and of the people behind it. Every bottle represents a path shaped by passion, sacrifice, and a deep connection to the land.
Growing up in Uruguay, where Tannat defines the identity of a nation, winemaking was never just a profession, it was part of who I am and the people around me. That influence continues to guide my work today, bringing structure, character, and authenticity into every wine I produce.
At El Destino, the approach is rooted in minimal intervention. I focus on allowing the vineyard and fruit to speak for itself, working with the fruit rather than manipulating it. The goal is simple: to craft honest wines that express their origin with clarity and balance. Makings wines that I enjoy drinking and sharing with friends. No need to nerd out about it, this wine is for everyone…
“El Destino” is more than a name, it is a philosophy that has shaped my life. I believe in the paths that bring us together, the moments that feel meant to be, and the people and places that leave a lasting mark. From Uruguay to New Zealand, Oregon, and California, this journey has connected me with incredible people and experiences that continue to define who I am as a winemaker but more as a person.
Beyond the bottle, El Destino extends into curated wine and food journeys across South America. Each year, I host immersive trips through Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, bringing people closer to the culture, the vineyards, and the flavors that have shaped my path.
From California, Paso Robles to South America, El Destino is more than a label, it is an invitation. An invitation to explore wines without boundaries, to connect with their story, and to experience the journey behind every bottle.
This is not just wine.
This is El Destino. SALUD!!
